PC World's six page checkout was slow and could not deal with traffic spikes like Black Friday. A new Single Page App (SPA) was created to reduce customer abandonment. The new system uses Node.js and Sockets.io to talk to part of a legacy system, a new database (Couchbase) to store transactional data and isomorphic code.
